The teamwork Pokemon, Passimian, will be making its Pokemon Go debut during the upcoming 2023 World Championships Celebration event.

This year’s Pokemon World Championships are taking place in Yokohama, Japan. Still, trainers worldwide will be able to celebrate with an event in Pokemon Go from August 11 to August 15.

The 2023 World Championships Celebration event has been announced, bringing Passimian and a new costumed Pikachu into the game for the first time.

Pokemon Go 2023 World Championships Celebration event dates & times

According to the Pokemon Go blog, the event will begin on Friday, August 11, 2023, at 10 am and end on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 8 pm local time.

For the first time, the teamwork Pokemon Passimian will be available to encounter in Three-star Raids and Field Research task encounters.

A special costumed Pikachu sporting a 2023 World Championships shirt will also be available in Timed Research.

During the event, five Pokemon will be able to evolve into their final form and receive a featured attack.

  • Alolan Sandslash
    • Evolve Alolan Sandshrew to get an Alolan Sandslash with the Fast Attack: Shadow Claw.
  • Machamp
    • After evolving Machop into Machoke, you can evolve Machoke into a Machamp that knows the Charged Attack: Payback.
  • Dewgong
    • Evolve Seel to get a Dewgong that knows Fast Attack: Ice Shared and Charged Attack: Icy Wind.
  • Walrein
    • After evolving Seal into Sealeo, you can evolve Sealeo into a Walrein that knows the Fast Attack: Powder Snow and Charged Attack: Icicle Spear.
  • Obstagoon
    • After evolving Galarian Zigzagoon into Galarian Linoone, you can evolve Galarian Linoone into an Obstagoon that knows the Charged Attack: Obstruct.

Throughout the World Championships Celebration event, trainers will notice the following bonuses:

  • Go Battle League max sets will increase from 5 to 10
  • Pokemon encountered in the Go Battle League rewards will have a wide variance of Attack, Defense, and HP.

Pokemon Go 2023 World Championships Celebration event Avatar items

Starting August 11, 2023, trainers will be able to purchase a 2023 Worlds Jersey and 2023 Worlds Jacket for their avatar through the in-game shop.

Pokemon Go 2023 World Championships Celebration event Timed Research

A World Championships Themed Timed Research will be available throughout the event. By completing tasks, players will receive an Elite Fast TM, an encounter with World Championships 2023 Pikachu, and more.
